At Oh Lardy we love our fermented foods. In my house, we go through fermented beverages very quickly! Our fermented orange juice and fermented apple juice are always a hit.
I was getting a little tired of the sweetness of orange and wanted something different. A friend suggested I ferment grapefruit juice…so I did. And let me tell you, the result is amazing! Fermented grapefruit juice is my new go-to fermented juice!

Fermented grapefruit juice couldn't be simpler to make so I will just delve right into the recipe!
- Pour juice and water into quart size mason jar
- Add culture starter or whey
- Add pinch of salt
- Cover tightly , give a quick shake to mix and leave at room temperature for 24-48 hours.
- Refrigerate and enjoy!
- Be sure to open carefully as gases do build up during fermentation!!
This fermented grapefruit juice is delicious on its own. Or if you enjoy an alcoholic beverage once in awhile, fermented grapefruit juice is amazing with vodka!
